Kadaknath Chicken

The only Black Meat Chicken (MBC) breed of India

The Kadakanath is a native bird of Madhya Pradesh, which is reared mainly by the tribal communities of Bhil and Bhilala. The most common varieties of the kadaknath are the jet-black, penciled and golden ones.

Specialty

This bird is very popular among the tribal caste mainly due to its adaptability to the local environment, its resistance to diseases and the quality, texture and flavor that its meat offers. This meat is not just popular as a delicacy, which is distinctive in taste, but also for its medicinal value.

Nutritive value

The protein content in the kadaknath meat is 25% more than that contained in any ordinary fowl meat. Research has shown that the meat this species offers is low in cholesterol (0.73-1.05%) than that of the white chicken (13-25'%).

The kadakanath meat contains high levels of 18 amino acids, out of which, 8 are essential for the humans and rich in hormones. It is also rich in vitamins B1, B2, B6, B12, C and E, niacin, protein, fat, calcium, phosphorus, iron, nicotinic acids, etc.

Medicinal properties

The kadakanath is showered with special medicinal characteristics. It is highly sought after in homeopathy to cure a particular nervous disorder. The tribals use the blood of this fowl to treat chronic diseases. Another feature is that the meat is aphrodisiac – this is believed to infuse vigor.

Experts say that viagra or sildenafil citrate is basically a vasodilator designed to increase blood flow to the heart; the melanin of the kadaknath does the same. It is particularly effective in treating intervertebral disk problems, sterility, menoxenia - abnormal menstruation - and habitual abortion.

Eggs

The kadaknath eggs are also highly nutritive, especially for old people and those of you with high blood pressure. This is because the cholesterol content in these eggs is low and it is rich in amino acids.

These eggs can relieve you of severe headaches, dizziness, asthma and nephritis (acute or chronic inflammation of the kidney).

Both the meat and eggs are reckoned to be a rich source of protein (25.47%) and iron.
